Terror and Our Border
Dear Fellow Conservatives,
Joe Biden’s regime has exposed the United States to imminent attacks by enemy combatants and terrorists crossing our border. Given the lack of action by the federal government, it is incumbent upon the states to coordinate and prepare.
On Jan 17, 2024, ten former senior executives with long careers in intelligence and counterterrorism wrote to the US Speaker of the House and others, warning of a “new and imminent danger” facing our United States. The letter detailed the invasion of the US homeland by thousands of military-age males walking across our border, posing a “never seen before” threat to innocent Americans and our infrastructure.
Their letter goes on to say our nation’s military, laws, and other natural protective barriers that have provided security in the past have been thoroughly circumvented in the last three years. I agree with their assessment, and it is my justification for saying Joe Biden’s inaction rises to the level of treason. He has all the authority needed to stop the invasion. His handlers wish the invasion to continue.
I am a 32-year military veteran and a former state representative. Most of my military career was spent in military intelligence. I was deeply involved in Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection.
We have thousands of enemy forces within our nation’s borders. They have been paroled by Biden’s federal government to live among us. They have hidden from our view, but they are in contact with each other. They are organized. Biden’s regime has provided them aid and comfort: cellphones, transportation, and a monthly stipend. Our unsecured border allows them a free flow of weapons, which could include small arms, high explosives, and unconventional options, such as fentanyl, which is fatal in very small quantities.
Attack is imminent. There will likely be multiple events, in multiple locations, using various methods of attack. We can expect attacks on open-air public events, similar to the attack on the music festival in Israel in October 2023. I expect guerilla attacks similar to the Beslan, Russia school siege in 2004, and difficult-to-trace terror tactics, like the DC sniper events in 2002. With fentanyl, we may see attacks on food and pharmaceuticals, similar to the drug-tampering scares we saw in Chicago in the 1980’s. Joe Biden’s deliberate inaction at the border has enabled an onslaught of prolonged terror against our children and homeland.
My military career also included 4 years in a civil engineering squadron, where we focused on “base recovery after attack”. The mission was to evaluate the damage, clear any remaining threats, rebuild the runways, and get back into the fight. I trained with Army Combat Engineers and Navy Seabees, and they have their own service-specific skillsets.
For every military unit, readiness is the highest priority. They must be ready to deploy into the fight, combine with other units and then work together seamlessly to achieve national objectives. We need that capability at the state level to overcome the criminal inaction of the federal government.
State governors supporting the Texas National Guard effort along the southern border should expand this cooperation and increase coordination with other states for disaster preparedness and for recovery after terrorist attacks.
I urge state governors to activate national guard units with expertise in civil engineering, communications, security and law enforcement, logistics, and medical services to prepare for imminent terror attacks. These troops will be essential to restore power and communications, secure perimeters, bring military grade equipment to repair infrastructure, and to provide triage care to wounded civilians.
The National Guard troops should be activated under Title 32 for a minimum of 31 days, and during that time they should test equipment, conduct exercises, and complete all career training and readiness requirements. They should also coordinate with military units from other states. They could then be deactivated, fully prepared to respond to any terror attack or emergency within the United States.
We may not be able to predict when terrorist events will occur. But we can prepare the troops for the inevitable and increase our readiness to recover after the attacks.
It is expensive to activate troops, and it can be disruptive. But it is the price we pay for a weak and unresponsive federal government. The states must shoulder the burden for the remaining 330 days of Joe Biden’s failed first term. I do not believe the USA will suffer a second term, but these days until Jan 20, 2025 will be dangerous.
Just as Texas stood up and took charge of its security in Eagle Pass, states should stand up and stand together to survive the dangers brought upon us by Joe Biden’s deliberate failure to protect America.
I wrote about our national security crisis at the border on 1Feb2024. It is on my website.
